The NEW lighthouse song. “Flashing in the Dark (Rose Island Lighthouse).” I wrote this song after being the lighthouse keeper at Rose Island back in March 2011. If you start at the beginning of this blog, you can read all about that adventure.

    Me and Johnny Cash

Last night, I called into WNEC in Henniker, New Hampshire, for an interview about my lighthouse adventures. What a thrill! Thank you, Jon, for the great conversation and for playing “Lighthouse Keeper” on “Out of the Woods” last night.

It will always feel like a dream to see my songs getting played among some of my biggest musical heroes, like Johnny Cash!

    Here is the twenty-minute interview:

Yesterday morning, we said goodbye to our friends as they left on the boat. The rest of the day was ours. There were no other visitors. Normally, we would have spent the day outside exploring, but because it was now April, 16.5 acres out of the 18-acre island were off limits. This protected area is home to several species of nesting birds. Every day, we’ve spotted a new bird returning.

Today is our last full day on the island. We have a family of six visiting from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Then, at 3:00 p.m., my mom, niece, and twin sister are coming to stay overnight.

I’m really going to miss this place.
